I am a scholar of nineteenth-century British literature at North Carolina State University. My research focuses on the Victorian novel, narrative form, and serial publication and compositional practice. I also have interests in book history and nineteenth-century material culture, as well as in the development of psychology as a discipline in the nineteenth century. I am the co-director of the NEH-funded Dickens Notes project. At NC State I am an Assistant Professor of English, faculty in the Department of Integrative Humanities and Social Sciences, and a member of the North Carolina State University Academy of Outstanding Teachers.
